In pneumatics, measuring how much air is moving through the system is essential for ensuring actuators get the right amount of flow. A flowmeter provides a numerical readout of the volumetric flow rate, so you can verify that the system supplies sufficient air and that components are performing as intended. This is especially useful when evaluating old versus new components—by comparing measured flow, you can confirm that the new parts meet the design requirements and that overall performance remains consistent or improves. A flowmeter doesn’t regulate pressure (that’s the job of a regulator) and it doesn’t filter air (that’s what filters do), so its role is specifically to quantify flow to assess performance and compatibility of components.
